PD Day - Postponed until sometime in 2012

Main theme: mobile technologies
Venue: James Cook University, Cairns Campus
Postponed until sometime in 2012

Mobile technologies include devices such as smart phones and tablets, for example Kindle ebook reader, iPad, Android tablet, iPhone, Android phone and Blackberry.

Linda Barron, State Library of Queensland, will speak on mobile technologies at SLQ, now and in the future. Nicky Jurd is director of Precedence, a web development and internet marketing firm based in Cairns. Nicky will speak on how she and her clients use mobile technologies. We have also invited a retailer to talk about the different brands and models on the market and their advantages and disadvantages. We hope we will be able to connect to the JCU network so we can all have a play.

Following conference reports from all library sectors in the region (all attendees are welcome to present), the round table discussion is a general discussion on a wide range of topics. For example, but not limited to, how mobile technologies are, or might be, used in libraries. The afternoon is about sharing and discussing ideas and networking.
